Stacy Martinet

June 12, 2017

Stacy MartinetStacy Martinet has served on the NYWICI board of directors in multiple roles and today is Senior Director and Head of Marketing Strategy and Operations at Adobe. Stacy likes to say that she has spent her career at the intersection of media, marketing and technology — first in digital marketing and corporate communications at The New York Times (and as a member of the team that launched the company’s first social media strategy) and most recently as CMO of Mashable.

A 2014 WiCi award winner, Stacy was named to ExecRank’s Top CMO List 2014, a Social Media MVP by PR News, and a Top Influential CMO on Twitter by Forbes. In 2012, she was named the youngest member of PR Week’s 40 Under 40 list.

Why she does what she does…
“I’m curious about everything. I try to learn something new everyday. Media was a natural fit because it is never boring. And with digital, it is constantly evolving. The more I worked in digital media, the more I believed that digital marketing would be a key driver to secular business transformations across industries. I want to be part of that action. And, in my roles, I keep learning.”

Drawn to NYWICI...
“Initially, what attracted me to NYWICI was the involvement of industry icons and role models such as Janet Robinson, Denise Warren and Catherine Mathis (all NYWICI past presidents). I joined the organization as a YoPro. Since then, I've held many roles within NYWICI. No matter where I've been in my career, it has been a source of inspiration and empowerment. And I continue to benefit from connecting with my peers as well as learning from our young professionals."

Stacy’s favorite social media platform...
“Events. Old school meet ups are having a resurgence. When I look at how Social Media have converged with media, combined with what’s happening in today’s culture, I see a renewed energy around community in real life.”

At the top of my trend watching list in 2017 is...
“There are a couple of trends that I’m watching, but probably at the top of my list is the future of TV online. And, in particular, which platform will be the platform that brings TV to the Internet. A second trend I’m watching has to do with the resurgence of creativity, as apps and platforms like Instagram and Snapchat are inspiring a new wave of creativity beyond professionals.”

Striking balance in social…
“See the medium for what it is: a long, slow story you are telling about yourself in hundreds of tiny installments. The best communications rules still apply: Be authentic, be confident, have a little fun, but remember what happens on the Internet stays on the Internet, forever.”

Stacy’s mantra…
“In chaos comes great opportunity.”

Off the clock, really…
“Taking my daughter for a walk and making time to read nonfiction. Right now, I’m reading Who Thought This Was a Good Idea by Alyssa Mastromonaco."

Stacy’s nirvana…
“Sitting on the beach, mid-day, with a book.”

Did you know…
“I’m a huge college basketball fan. I love the hustle of the game.”

Day to relive…
“Every Saturday morning breakfast with my family.”
