Nancy Weber and the Art of Grace

With experience comes depth and Nancy Weber is the culmination of a career fulfilled. Listen to this episode for grounding advice from the former NYWICI President and former EVP, Marketing and Integrated Communication at Dotdash Meredith, on the heels of her recent retirement. Plus, we hear key leadership lessons that we can use in our day-to-day lives.

LEADING THROUGH UNCHARTED WATERS

In an industry where no two days are alike, Nancy has navigated the ever-changing landscape of marketing with resilience and adaptability. She admits however, that one of her most significant challenges was learning how to lead during the Covid-19 pandemic. “Getting people connected and feeling [like] a part of the team…that was the challenge to everyone,” she reflects. She cites learning to navigate transition and figuring out how to take advantage of doing new things in different ways, helping to create new opportunities along the way.

“…TRUST BEGETS ACCOMPLISHMENT”

Nancy’s leadership philosophy is deeply rooted in collaboration and trust. She firmly believes that success is not a solo endeavor but rather a collective effort. “You can’t do it on your own, you need good people,” she says. Trust, according to Nancy, is the cornerstone for any successful team or project.

“People, when given the chance, will do the right thing,” she says. She asserts that trust specifically is one of the keys to success but in that same vein she underscores the importance of empathy and fairness as well. With the pandemic in mind, she reflects on witnessing personal changes in the lives of co-workers and how being understanding is helpful to the collective. “Everybody is going to have something that happens in their life that is major and I think we need empathy to help people get through that.”
