2008 Annual Meeting
On a rainy day on May 27, NYWICI members gathered for the organization’s annual meeting at Google’s office in New York. Outgoing NYWICI president Kristine Welker (at right) greeted the crowd: “We are here to not just celebrate our accomplishments, but to celebrate what we do each and every day.” Incoming President
Nancy Rabstejnek Nichols echoed that sentiment:
"It’s my honor and privilege to work with women who are genuinely good people.” Read more...

Cocktails & Conversations: "Champagne & Cosmetics"
We planned, discussed, strategized, lectured, networked and worked really hard all year. It was time for some much-deserved fun and a little pampering!
The last C&C before the summer break on June 3, was all about mixing and mingling in style at Henri Bendel, one of the city's chicest stores. Participants drank champagne and enjoyed free mini-makeovers and quick makeup tips.
Enjoy your summer and see you in the fall!

Premium Discounts for Disability and Long Term Care Insurance
for NYWICI Members and Their Families
Most people understand the importance of homeowner’s or renter’s insurance to protect belongings — theirs or a neighbor’s — should something go wrong in their home or apartment, like a leak, fire, or falling tree that crashes through a roof.
In addition, with disability or long term care insurance, you can protect your savings in other ways. Ask yourself these questions:
Do you know for sure whether you are sufficiently covered by disability insurance?
• How will you pay the rent, maintenance or mortgage if you’re severely injured or become ill for a stretch of time?
• How long will your employer pay your salary until you are back on your feet and at work?
What do you know about long term care insurance? Did you know that…
• Most home care recipients are women and 72 percent of nursing home residents are, you guessed it, women.
• Women live longer and are more likely to need long-term care.
• Women are more likely to provide care for others and understand why it’s not desirable to rely on family or friends for their care.
• The cost of care can be prohibitive.
Even if you work at a corporation, you will want to learn more about these insurance options. New York Women in Communications members are eligible for premium discounts at a top-of-the line insurer.
For more information, contact Joan Marbit by email, liveandlearnjm@aol.com, or by cell (917) 273 85 18.
