MATRIX 2001 LUNCHEON CAPTIVATES AUDIENCE AND BREAKS RECORDS!
The 2001 Matrix luncheon, April 23 at the Waldorf, was a huge success, by all accounts!
Gross revenue was approximately $835,000, a new record, which will support NYWICI's . annual programs and infuse the new NYWICI Foundation. 1460 reservations were made, 1418 people were served, also a record, and although the program did go beyond 2:00 pm, the far- from-restless audience was enthralled and a roar of delighted surprise went up when
Robert Redford stepped from backstage at the very end to be an additional "presenter" for the flabbergasted
Lois Smith! What a way to end a glorious event!
The ballroom was filled with the scent of the hyacinth adorning the garden tables, the entire setting, designed to complement NYWICI's colors, was breathtaking, and the delicious food was hearty yet not hotel heavy. All was done under the direction of our luncheon host,
Gourmet's Ruth Reichl.
This year's luncheon journal was a stunning and very lively 60-page perfect-bound magazine of features on NYWICI as well as the honorees and presenters, and delivered to NYWICI over $48,000 from ad sales directed by Conde Nast.
Thanks must go to the well-oiled machine that is the NYWICI Matrix Committee and to the headquarters staff for unbelievably hard work and tireless efforts. However, we must all tip our hats to Conde Nast Publications for its generosity and creativity, not only as a $75,000 Diamond Sponsor (the first ever) but for contributing so much to make this one of the most successful ever!
